A cornucopia of whole food feeds the placenta and baby; look closely and you will see tiny  colored flecks in the umbilical cord illustrating the baby receiving what the mother eats; a developing fetus and placenta are not air plants!
 
The first task of mothering is being conscientious about eating well. 
 
Prenatal nutrition is key, perhaps the single most important thing  to preventing many complications in pregnancy and birth, and in fetal metabolic programming -- for life. And yet, prenatal care rarely offers nutritional counseling in the first, second, and third trimesters to ensure the mother is eating well and has access to healthy food.
 
So I painted "Nourishing the Life Within" in hopes prints would be posted in prenatal clinics, birth centers, and in mothers; kitchens.
